I have worked for 20+ years as a home visitor with families who have children with developmental delays and diagnosis. In this role, families shared their stories and I saw the impact of the struggles with sleep and the effects of sleep deprivation on everyone in the house. Over the years I had gained more knowledge, but I felt I needed more information to make a difference with the sleep issues and strategies to better support the families I worked with. I knew there had to be a way to support the highest population of children with sleep difficulties to get the sleep they need and deserve. That's where I found the training with the Family Sleep Institute. The lightbulb went on and I had my ""aha"" moment. I could combine my skills for supporting families who have neurodiverse children with my passion for improving sleep using a strong developmental and responsive approach in my support. Sleep is one of the pillars of health and has so many impacts on quality of life. My goal is to help families who have nowhere else to turn to.
